"We're addicted!" Our biggest concern was using Excel developed long ago to collect data as the basis for an automated system which would output that legacy spreadsheet format. Now that we are going to output to the Web, ExtenXLS has saved us a tremendous amount of time and work."
-Steve T, System Architect, B2B Application Development Consumer Health Care, Pfizer, Inc.
"In evaluating Formula One ExtenXLS and POI, there was no competition. ExtenXLS came out ahead."
"In terms of breadth of functionality ExtenXLS has all the bases covered better than Formula One and POI."

"Our project required that a third party provided excel template be used for entering and reporting on data. Initial tests working with Excel were a bit of a headache. Trying to follow the POI API is unintuitive. Trying to use POI on simple Excel files, seemed to work fine until the Excel file template has any complexity. Small patches to POI would solve one problem, but create another. The file would work in Excel 2000, but fail to open in 2003. Formatting would disappear, macros would fail to run.
Since the template was out of our control, we needed to be pretty confident that the Excel library we going to work. A tight deadline, and limited developer resources, our search found Extentech: ExtenXLS. After downloading the trial, I ran into a couple problems with the Excel template that were similar to a problem I had with POI. Contacted support via email got a response the same day and a patched version the same week.
After deploying the project to production I ran into 2 more problems in our project. After contacting support, both issues were identified as bugs in our code and sample code was provided that solved both problems. Using ExtenXLS and Extentech support takes away any concerns about Excel. You don't have to worry about having in depth Excel knowledge and can focus on the project. But if you do encounter problems, support is just an email away (even if it's just to show you a bug in your code)."

"The application reports key process indicators for parts suppliers. Used by suppliers and employees, it allows the Web application to return formatted data for their use. We needed to give the end user a file that they can easily extract data from and/or manipulate. The form had to allow for both simple (tabular) and complex (charts) data display.
ExtenXLS gave us the ability to use Excel file format and functionality. And it gives the added ability to receive Excel as an electronic form. It is easy to understand and use.
Support has been excellent.
Five packages were evaluated. Only ExtenXLS performed all tests correctly. All the others dropped data or could not support the test."

"ExtenXLS makes it possible to re-use spreadsheets representing a tremendous investment in time and business logic and to 'connect' those spreadsheets to various SQL data sources to provide access to usable data in a way never before possible."
-Prakash Thiruvenkatam

"We use ExtenXLS for 'pushing' accounting data into an Excel template. A key customer wanted Web access to Excel format reports. We tried .NET but had problems with preserving charts and formatting. ExtenXLS provides a flexible, cost effective solution that gives us the ability to stay ahead of user requirements".

"Our experience with Extentech has been overwhelmingly positive. We put their ExtenXLS product into production on one of our customer's websites several months ago, and our customer has been delighted with the result. Extentech has been very supportive throughout the installation process, and continues to add features to their ExtenXLS product on a regular basis. It is obvious that the staff of Extentech takes great pride in this product, as well they should."
-Chuck Schmidt, President, Custom Data Solutions, Inc.
"I use ExtenXLS under Solaris as part of an automated process that generates a large number of financial summary spreadsheets. I've been very pleased with its performance, and it has saved us a great deal of time by providing easy-to-use Java classes. Extentech also quickly responds to questions and requests (even on holiday weekends) and they have incorporated new features to meet our needs."
-Mark Cushey, Senior Software Developer, Thomson Financial/Vestek
"Really good tool for creating dynamic XLS spreadsheets. I downloaded the toolkit in my search for an affordable, and maybe even more importantly a supported Java-based tool for reading and writing dynamic excel spreadsheets. Recommended. "
